Collaborative Tools

Linoit - One of the best online bulletin board experiences can be found at Linoit. Set your background to look like a cork board or even use a picture. Then add stickies (with or without due dates), images, videos, documents and even private notes that are viewable by only you. Linoit is excellent as a homepage for your class as well as student projects.

Stixy is an online bulletin board on which you can add stickies, images, documents and calendar dates. This site works great as a classroom homepage; you can add “to do” notes on the board which are added to the calendar.

Edistorm is an online bulletin board that is perfect for developing writing projects. Students can brainstorm, collaborate and organize their thoughts. They can even vote for the most important stickies, hide the rest and export their board as an Excel spreadsheet.

Twiddla is a very powerful online whiteboard that includes sticky notes, text, images and drawing tools. A chat feature is also included, excellent for students collaborating on a project for homework. students can work on a collaborative word document and you can see who typed what/when etc.

Word Maps

Tagxedo - create word clouds in different shapes, colors, fonts, etc.  Pull from websites or original text.  Results can be saved as a jpeg or png file.

Wordle - create word clouds from typed test.  Ability to change font, color and direction.   Results can be printed or saved to the online gallery.

Wordsift - Creates word clouds from your text, but also provides a visual thesaurus and  images related to the most used words.

Prezi  - create presentations that spin and move for the audience. - Educational account is free for teachers.  Be sure to choose that option.

Glogster EDU  - - create interactive posters - EDU accounts allow you to create student accounts under you without them having email.

Animoto - Create videos using your images and 5 second video clips.  Site provides copy-right free music and builds the video to time transitions in sync with the music.  Educators get free access to unlimited length films.   Final products can be embedded onto websites, emailed out, or uploaded to YouTube.
Great example - poetry  - - a one-click publishing platform that allows content curators to publish beautiful online magazines.

Pic-Lits - Create original pieces of writing with this website.   Choose a picture and them drag words up from the word bank or choose freestyle and type in anything you wish.

Storybird - Create original stories using stock artwork.

VoiceThread - Upload photos, artwork, or stories.  Audio and written comments can then be added.  Final products can be shared by embedding them in webpages or by sharing the link.

ZooBurst - - ZooBurst is a digital storytelling tool that lets anyone easily create his or her own 3D augmented reality pop-up books. Using ZooBurst, storytellers of any age can create their own rich worlds in which their stories can come to life.

Diigo - share your bookmarks, join groups and make annotations on webpages. - very visual way to put multiple websites into one link, the students can scroll the the list visually to see each website you want them to use.
